Indian Currency (Indian Rupee)

  1. For Visually Impaired: The newfangled denomination of Rs 2000 is magenta-colored featuring Intaglio of Mahatma Gandhi portrait, Ashoka pillar emblem with bleed lines and identity mark to make the currency visually impaired friendly.
  2. Logo: A logo and tagline of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan are printed on the rear side of the currency.
  3. Mangalyaan: The reverse side of the currency has a motif of Mangalyaan, symbolic of India’s first interplanetary space mission.
  4. Denomination: The denomination is written in 17 languages. On the obverse, it is written in English and Devanagiri and on the reverse, it is written in 15 official languages of India.
  5. Material Used: It is a mixture of the pulp of cotton and balsam with special dyes.

Australian Currency (Australian Dollars)

  1. Difficult to Counterfeit: The Australian $100 is made of a type of plastic known as polymer and feels like wax, to make the note more secure and difficult to counterfeit.
  2. Reversing Numbers: The banknote has reversing numbers of $5, which first appears forward then disappears and again appears in backward form when it is tilted.
  3. Vignette of a Lyrebird: A clear window is made with a lyrebird inside and an embossment of numeral 100.
  4. Color Rolling Effect: The currencies have a color rolling effect on the top corner of one side of the note which appears when the note is tilted.
  5. Intaglio Print: The denominational numeric is printed in a slightly raised form or intaglio print for the visually challenged.

South African Currency (South African Rand)

  1. Motif: The yellow-orange colored 200 rand has a portrait of Nelson Mandela on the front side and motif of a leopard on the rear side.
  2. Counterfeit-Proof Material: The material used in making the currency is made of special cotton fiber as opposed to normal paper to protect the currency from counterfeit.
  3. For Visually Impaired: The 200 rand has five raised lines on the left and right side in the obverse part of the note for visually impaired to identify the currency.
  4. Banknote Paper: The South African 200 rand paper is UV dull and does not fluoresce (i.e., it does not glow) under UV light. The new banknotes have a distinctive feel and make a unique sound when snapped between your fingers.
  5. Precision Printing: The currency is symbolic of precision printing, as it has two half parts of a picture on the front and rear side, which forms a full image only when held against the light.

US Currency (Dollars)

  1. Material Used: The material used in making the $100 currency is 75% cotton and 25% linen to make the currency more durable and it doesn’t fall apart even after double folding it for 4000 times.
  2. Security Thread: The security strip which is embedded in the currency glows pink color when the denomination is put under UV light.
  3. Color-Shifting Ink: The ink used in printing the currency is a special optically variable ink that changes color from copper to green when the bill is moved and rotated.
  4. Difficult to Counterfeit: A raised print can be felt near the portrait of Benjamin Franklin which is used as a distinctive feature making the currency difficult to counterfeit.
  5. For Visually Impaired: To help the visually impaired citizens to identify the denomination of the currency, a large green numeral is printed on the rear side of the note.

United Kingdom Currency (Pound)

  1. Counterfeit-Proof Material: The £50 note is red colored and made of polymer material making it counterfeit-proof and more durable.
  2. Motion Thread: The currency has a motion thread woven on it which moves the image side to side and up-down when tilted.
  3. Intaglio Print: The note has an intaglio print of the numeral to help the visually impaired identify the currency.
  4. Metallic Thread: The £50 currency has a unique metallic thread which when held against the light appears as a continuous dark line.
  5. Ultraviolet Feature: The currency has a special ultraviolet feature that appears red and green under UV light along with some more flecks randomly placed on the banknote.
